Platinum notes 2.0 available for macbook air
  • Hi guys,

I saw in one of the articles in the main site of an alternative to Platinum Notes. Problem is i can’t find the article anywhere and i could use the name of that program. Can someone please throw some light this way?

There is, as far as I know, no real alternative for Platinum Notes. One of the things it does is normalize the gain of your tracks. For that you can use the free MP3Gain alternative.

I have yet to see anything that works remotely as good as Platinum nodes and as King of the nerd DJs I have tried everything I can get my hands on.

The audio track is the same in WAV and AIFF, so no there is no difference. The only difference is the “container” that holds the metadata (song, track name,…) that has slight differences, but all you need is there.

    The main difference:
WAV -> invented by Microsoft to compete against AIFF as they saw it makes sense to have something lossless.
AIFF -> was there first, Invented by Apple in 1988 and the mother of lossless file formats

AIFF has a slight better play latency on older Macs, as playing AIFF files is hardcoded into the operating system (CoreAudio). With every Mac since 2005 the problem no longer exists as also WAV has been integrated into CoreAudio.

WAV has advantages on Windows XP Systems, as AIFF was deliberately hindered by Microsoft and could not be played by the Windows Audio Service. With Windows 7 and up you should have no problems.
